Our Stories Matter! A Place-based Educator’s Toolkit is a training guide developed to enable educators working in educationally precarious contexts.

Even though it is made by and for educators in Myanmar displaced by the military government, this toolkit addresses questions that have a wider resonance. What resources can educators draw upon when there are no textbooks, libraries or formal educational institutions and structures? Two, what should teachers and students do when textbook content does not reflect local realities and is a means of indoctrination by the state propaganda machinery and vested political interests?

Sponsored by the HAB programme with additional support from Aberystwyth University (Wales, UK), Northern Illinois University (USA), Leiden University College (The Netherlands), Thinking Classroom Foundation (Chiang Mai, Thailand), and the Regional Center for Social Science and Sustainable Development (RCSD) of Chiang Mai University (Thailand).
