Jyothi Thrivikraman
Jyothi Thrivikraman is an Assistant Professor of Global Public Health of Leiden University College (LUC). She completed her PhD in Social Policy at the Heller School of Social Policy and Management (Brandeis University) in Waltham, Massachusetts (USA). For her PhD, Jyothi focused on the extent of and impacts of medical debt for those seeking credit counseling in the United States. She completed her PhD in 2012. She also has a Master’s in Public Health from the Rollins School of Public Health (Emory University) in Atlanta, GA (USA).
As an HAB partner, Jyothi has mainly collaborated with fellow partners Tharaphi Than, Surajit Sarkar and Yi Li to conduct pedagogical and storytelling workshops for underground educators in Myanmar. This began with a trial workshop at IIAS in June 2023, culminating in a 4-day workshop in Chiang Mai, and the creation of a Teacher's Training Toolkit (TTT). In addition to the TTT, Jyothi assisted in volunteer coordination on the HAB Wordbook Asian Diaspora in The Hague, connecting the research team with LUC students who assisted in the narrative research fieldwork.
